At the invitation of Metiria Turei, MP and co-leader of the NZ Green Party, the exhibition was opened and a reception held in the Beehive, Parliament Buildings, Wellington. The exhibition was given a ceremonial opening and spiritual acknowledgement by kaumatua Sam and June Jackson. Incantations, karakia and waiata were given to assist in the future safe travelling of the exhibition and artists (we have been invited to exhibit in Germany May 2010).

Of Women Born is supported by Creative New Zealand and The Armstrong and Arthur Charitable Trust
Works from 'Of Women Born' exhibited at Nga Purapura Art Space, Otaki Library May -June 2009
"This exhibition was a great sucess with the children of Otaki, they were especially interested with the fire lady and loved the texture of the sculptures. The women and babies sculptures were especially appreciated by the younger members of our library and I sat on more than one occasian and enjoyed the experence of a little person allowed to "interact" with the artworks. The earth tones mingled beautifully with the garden scenes outside and provided a restful place for people to sit and rest." Alys Delft, Otaki Library. 6 june 2009.
This preview was cancelled because of stormy weather:
This one day preview includes the series 'Goddess Unearthed' and is going to be an exciting and special day.
You are invited to come and enjoy the sights and sounds that made up the
exhibition 'Of Women Born'. We will be situated (from the centre of Civic Square) up the stairs,
through the mountian sculpture and to the right in the cosy garden area just before the bridge.
