Jean offers unique individual classes, workshops and courses from her studio in Waikanae. She also gives workshops
nationally and internationally.
Germany May and June 2010:
Dresden Womens Uni. Over a two day period 45 women each made their very own and individual goddess.
It was so powerful to see the works grouped together and no two looking the same.

Student coments: Bill: "I liked the easily understood instructions and
positive reinforcement of what I did and where I was going with my
'Goddess'."
Diana: "This was my first ever sculpture class and I learnt so much
and had great fun doing so. I highly recommend this class to anyone
and everyone."
Hannah: "Jean, it was such a privillege to learn from you the last two
days! I've never had a sculpting class and though I've done a little bit
of clay I feel like I have a new foundation to build on after learning so
much from you. Your patience and expertise seemed effective for
everyone in the workshop as each participant's project was wonderful!
Thank you so much."
Background
Jean began teaching 'Sculpting with Clay' workshops and night-classes in 1999 and has since then taught a wide range of people from preschoolers in holiday programmes through to youth in pre employment programmes: womens groups, adults in mental health promotion programmes, retirees in College night-classes and enthusiastic potters in local clubs and societies.
Because of the nature of Jeans Sculptual Work, her background in Communication Skills and Community Developement her classes offer more than just the technical know-how of sculpting clay.

Hi Jean,
I wrote to you immediately after receiving my goddess. It actually was in my hands less that 18 hours after you sent it. It was unbelievable! I was so thrilled to get her and she came in excellent condition. I am sorry that you didn't get my email. That was so kind of you to go to all that extra trouble so that she could be with me here in the USA.
Yes, of course use the picture.
I loved this workshop. Jean is an excellent teacher who has the unique ability to bring out prior unrecognized talent in an individual. The whole workshop is rewarding from the teaching, camaraderie to the yummy food served. I would sign up for any workshop that Jean gave.
Hope to see you this year again.
Bye for now.
JILL
From Cheryl
Jean Kahui has a well known reputation for both her pottery and the workshops she runs. Consequently my expectations were high and Jean fulfilled them with her easy, relaxed manner, ability to know when to offer help and when to leave you to it and her clear teaching manner. She creates an atmosphere of potential. She is an Enabler and an Awakener.
I came away from the weekend workshop with a finished piece ready for firing surprising not only myself but my family and friends as I hadn't done any pottery like this before. My Goddess Vivienne - Giver of Life and Sustenance - adorns our home and is well admired.
